The Art of Eternal Torment

The companion artbook to Velvet Vein — watercolour plates of the clan that worships beauty it can no longer add to. The Embrace freezes the artist at the moment of death: the eye keeps sharpening for centuries while the hands stay exactly where they were. These pages are a record of that stasis. Toreador — Clan of the Rose

“The Art of Eternal Torment”

Cover plate of the Toreador artbook, companion to the album Velvet Vein.

Plate 1

In the velvet shadows between heartbeats, we Toreador linger

“We do not create art. We become it.”

We are the Clan of the Rose — delicate petals hiding thorns that draw blood for eternity. Born from the ancient dreams of Arikel, called also Ishtar, the Sculptor, the Bull-Dancer, the first to capture perfection in stone and pigment only to discover that true beauty demands a price paid in immortal agony. Every brushstroke is a memory of warm skin long turned cold. Every melody is a siren song that once lured us into the Embrace. We chase the sublime knowing it will forever elude us, for in undeath the eye grows keener while the heart grows hungrier. What mortals glimpse in a fleeting moment of inspiration, we endure for centuries — rapture twisting slowly into exquisite torment. This collection of watercolors is no mere gallery. It is a confession. Each painting captures a fragment of our endless performance: the ecstasy of creation, the paralysis of flawless beauty, the quiet horror of seeing too clearly what others dare not notice. Here you will find roses that bleed, muses that devour, and canvases that stare back with hungry eyes. Step closer, darling. Let the pigments run red. Perhaps you, too, will understand why we can never look away.

Plate 2

The Art of Eternal Torment

“She painted her own damnation and called it love.”

The brush does not lie. A Toreador stands frozen before her canvas — pigments bleed like vitae as perfection becomes prison. Every stroke deepens the curse: rapture turns to paralysis. This is our eternal torment. We see the sublime in everything, yet cannot look away. Shadows smile with fangs and her own lips.

Plate 3

Elegy in Crimson

“Her song ended in blood, yet the melody lingers.”

The final note trembles in the air as crimson spills across the score. A Toreador musician stands bathed in dying light, bow still pressed to strings that will never sing again. Every drop of vitae becomes another verse in her elegy — beauty and death intertwined in perfect, fatal harmony. This is our curse. We compose masterpieces that outlive their creators, only to realize the greatest art is always written in blood.

Plate 4

Suspicious Muse

“She weighs your soul with a single glance.”

A Toreador fixes the viewer with a piercing, suspicious stare, her dark hair still glistening from the night's secrets. Crimson and earthy washes bleed around her like spilled vitae on canvas. Her beauty is undeniable, yet her eyes warn that admiration alone may not be enough to survive her attention. This is our eternal dance: beauty that seduces and beauty that judges in the same breath.

Plate 5

Crimson Contemplation

“In hunger, clarity blooms.”

A gaunt Toreador stands with arms outstretched, his crimson robes clinging to visible ribs. Eyes closed in quiet contemplation, he embraces deliberate hunger — the chosen fast that sharpens every sense toward perfect beauty. Bone and fabric speak of restraint and longing in equal measure. This is our devotion: to starve the flesh so the eye may see clearly for eternity.

Plate 6

Canvas of Blood

“The finest pigment is always warm.”

A beautiful Toreador stands before her canvas, both artist and subject drenched in fresh blood. The painting in front of her runs thick with crimson, every brushstroke a record of ecstasy and violence. Her skin glistens as vitae drips from her fingers, turning creation into communion. This is our eternal truth: beauty demands blood, and we gladly pay the price.

Plate 7

Veiled Agony

“Even in silence, beauty bleeds.”

A Toreador stands with eyes closed in quiet contemplation, her face etched with suffering. Delicate blood marks trace her neck like a lover's final signature. Royal blues bleed into deep crimson across the watercolor, wrapping her in the colors of eternal grace and hidden pain. This is our quiet curse: beauty that wounds even when the eyes are closed.

Plate 8

Crimson Stride

“She walks through night as if the darkness owes her beauty.”

A striking Toreador moves with fluid grace in tattered robes that flutter like broken wings. Seen in profile against the night, her form cuts through deep shadows while the background bleeds rich crimson. Every step carries both elegance and quiet ruin, the shattered fabric whispering of passions long spent. This is our restless curse: beauty that refuses to stand still, even in darkness.

Plate 9

Empty Canvas

“The silence of the untouched surface terrifies him most.”

A Toreador artist stands in his studio, draped in loose priest-like robes that slip open across half his torso. Long dark hair drifts as if stirred by an unseen wind while he gazes away from the empty canvas before him. Another finished painting waits in the background, yet his eyes refuse to meet the blank surface that demands to be filled. This is our deepest fear: beauty that has not yet been born.

Plate 10

Quiet Dominion

“She needs no crown to rule the room.”

A confident Toreador sits lost in thought, her fiery red hair cascading over a dark outfit that frames her upper body with effortless authority. Her expression reveals deep inner contemplation, as if weighing the worth of every soul around her. No movement is needed — her presence alone commands the space. This is our silent power: beauty that rules without ever raising its voice.

Plate 11

Surrender to the Rose

“At last, the thorns no longer hurt.”

A beautiful Toreador arches her spine in final surrender, arms opened wide as blood flows outward like crimson petals. Her layered dress billows around her while flowing hair catches the last light. Gazing upward, her face shows not despair but a quiet, heartbreaking acceptance of fate. This is our ultimate release: beauty that breaks us so completely we finally let go.

Plate 12

Bloodlit Gaze

“Look too long and you will forget how to look away.”

A confident Toreador fixes the viewer with a sharp, focused stare, her eyes glowing a deep, bloody red. Her beauty is impossible to ignore — striking, magnetic, almost painful in its perfection. Yet beneath the surface lingers a quiet decadence that clings to the observer long after the image fades. This is our sweetest poison: beauty that lingers and slowly corrupts.

Plate 13

Kiss of Crimson

“Resistance is just another form of surrender.”

A mesmerisingly beautiful Toreador gazes directly into the viewer, her face and neck glistening with fresh blood. Two sharp fangs stand prominently against her lips, yet the invitation in her eyes is undeniable. Danger and desire blur until the only rational thought left is how willingly one would lean in closer. This is our deadliest gift: beauty that makes you beg to be devoured.

Plate 14

Baptism in Scarlet

“There is peace only after the flood.”

A female Toreador stands completely soaked in blood, her robes heavy and dripping, the background a swirling sea of crimson. Red lips part slightly while blood traces delicate lines down her neckline. Arms raised in quiet acceptance, she radiates an almost holy serenity amid the violence. This is our sacred rite: beauty that drowns us so we may rise anew.

Plate 15

Dreams in Red

“She bleeds so the visions may live.”

A beautiful Toreador stands with head tilted back, eyes closed in a trance-like dream state. Her robe and dress are completely soaked in blood, the fabric clinging heavily to her form. Mouth slightly open, she appears lost in blackout or divine inspiration, already envisioning the next masterpieces that will be born from her suffering. This is our sacred madness: beauty that demands we bleed so the art may breathe.

Plate 16

Crimson Sentinel

“One eye sees beauty. The other sees prey.”

A confident Toreador warrior stands clad in gleaming armor, half his body draped in a flowing crimson cloak. The hood casts deep shadow over one eye while the visible eye burns with pure dominance. Every line of his stance radiates unyielding power — a predator who has turned martial grace into art. This is our hidden blade: beauty that conquers without ever lowering its guard.

Plate 17

Shadow Conductor

“She speaks without words and commands without raising her voice.”

A female Toreador's face emerges barely visible from deep shadow, her eyes lost in darkness while one elegant hand makes precise, subtle gestures. The entire scene feels distant and calm, radiating silent control from the back of the stage. In perfect stillness she pulls invisible strings, orchestrating beauty and fate alike. This is our quiet mastery: beauty that rules from the shadows without ever being seen.

Plate 18

Serenade in Scarlet

“The finest vintage is always warm.”

A female Toreador sips slowly from a crystal wine glass filled with blood, her eyes gently closed in perfect serenity. Every movement is calm and deliberate, as if this simple act were a private ritual of exquisite taste. An aura of quiet grace surrounds her, turning indulgence into art. This is our refined pleasure: beauty that savors every drop without haste.

Plate 19

Hypnotic Veil

“She sees tomorrow in the blood of tonight.”

A distant Toreador gazes through the viewer with a trance-like, faraway stare. Her elegant dress glitters with encrusted details while white hair flows softly around her shoulders. Red eyes and crimson lips glow against pale skin, wrapped in a dreamy haze that feels almost hypnotic. This is our enchanting haze: beauty that draws you in until reality fades.

Plate 20

Feast Eternal

“One taste is never enough.”

A strikingly beautiful Toreador stares straight into the viewer, fangs fully extended and glistening. Fresh blood covers her face and chest while dark hair flows wildly around her. Her red eyes burn with raw ecstasy moments after feeding, the minimalistic composition making her predatory hunger feel immediate and intimate. This is our raw hunger: beauty that feeds and demands to be fed upon.

Plate 21

Azure Reverie

“Half in this world, half already lost to beauty.”

An elegant Toreador stands half-lost in hypnotic trance, her eyes partially closed and gaze softly directed downward. Her refined outfit flows with rich layers of crimson and deep blue that bleed across the entire scene, wrapping her in colors of passion and melancholy. Every detail radiates quiet sophistication and dreamy detachment. This is our exquisite drift: beauty that pulls the mind into deeper waters.

Plate 22

Scream of Ivory

“When beauty breaks, it screams in silence.”

A Toreador stands with mouth wide open in a raw, agonized scream, her eyes rolled back to pure white. Blood flows freely down her face and body, staining everything while the background itself bleeds crimson. The violence of the moment is visceral, yet her form remains hauntingly beautiful even in total collapse. This is our final fracture: beauty that screams until nothing human remains.

Plate 23

Crimson Howl

“The louder the scream, the deeper the beauty.”

A Toreador screams with her mouth stretched wide open, seen from the side in raw, dynamic motion. Blood coats her lips and drips heavily down her chin while her entire form is soaked in flowing crimson. The scene pulses with violent energy, every line of her body captured mid-agony. This is our violent crescendo: beauty that screams until the night itself bleeds.

Plate 24

Crescendo in Blood

“Pain and pleasure share the same throat.”

A Toreador screams in pure ecstatic release, head thrown back and neck exposed. Blood flows freely over her cleavage as her hands press into the warm crimson, savoring every drop. A violent bloody splash erupts behind her pale figure, capturing the absolute peak where agony and rapture become indistinguishable. This is our ultimate crescendo: beauty that peaks when it finally breaks.

Plate 25

Final Reflection

“We painted until the blood ran dry and the roses bled white.”

In these pages you have walked through our eternal gallery — where every brushstroke is a memory, every crimson wash a confession, and every gaze an invitation you may regret accepting. Beauty is our curse and our salvation. We create it, we devour it, we are consumed by it. Thank you for lingering with us in the candlelight. May these watercolors haunt your dreams as sweetly as they have haunted ours. — A Toreador who can no longer tell where the paint ends and the vitae begins. Watercolors and layout by Umbral Vein.
